Getting started
Please note: before beggining Please ensure that you have the Windows CD with serial no., the motherboard drivers CD, and of course somebody to call for help if your system crashes !!
Formatting your hard disk
Put your Windows startup disk or CD -ROM to your drive and start / restart your computer the computer. You must now be under dos prompt.
In order to change the drive letter from C: to your CD drive (say G:/) , just type " g:\" and press enter.
Command for formating " C" drive in dos is:
format c: /u
Similarly substitute drive letter for other drives.
Partition your hard disk
From your Windows CD drive type " fdisk " under dos to load the utility for this purpose. The rest is self explanatory. I would prefer 3 drive partitions. I have named my three drives as C:(WINDOWS), D:(SOFTWARE), E:(BACKUPS). You will be required to format the individual drives after partitioning.
Installing Windows
Installation will be faster if you copy the Windows installation folder to any of your newly created drives (under dos). I have copied it to my e:/(backups) drive. From your Windows CD drive type " setup "
Windows installation will now begin. Have the windows Serial number with you, which will be neede in due course of the fully automated installation.
After installing Windows install the drivers that come with the Motherboard CD.
